"Super floral, first sip told me how juicy it is..tasting like rooibos, black tea, blood orange, lemon zest, and mango juice. Cools into a cherry cola flavor, but it's definitely juicy." - Austin Bowers - Q Grader / Roaster / Methodical Coffee

Jimmy's Notes:

Bright and juicy coffee from Kenya with excellent bright acidity that has intensity without being overwhelming or mouth turning. I have found this Kenyan to be very sweet with prominent notes of citrus ranging from ruby red grapefruit to tangerine and lime. There is also some raspberry, mango, and florals to be found in this complex coffee, flavors shift with the extractions and brew methods but I have enjoyed it most either on aeropress (here is our recipe) or using a 17:1 ratio for pour over.

Details:

Karatina AA is a prime representation of Kenyan coffee at its finest. Sourced from the rich soils of the Karatina region, it hails from the Barichu locale, Mathira division, situated near Karatina town in Nyeri County. This region is nestled in the southern expanses of the iconic Mt. Kenya. A proud product of the Barichu Cooperative Society, it's cultivated by about 1,450 passionate small-scale farmers.

A distinctive feature of this coffee is its meticulous processing. The cherries are fully washed using the pristine waters of the Ragati River and later sun-dried delicately on raised beds, ensuring a cup bursting with purity and flavor.
